The OA on Netflix… That final episode… (spoilers, you were warned)

So, like much of the free world right now, we binged the OA over the holiday season. Much like Making a Murderer last December, this show consumed us in a big way and it was difficult to peel our butts off the couch. I'm going to write this blog from the perspective that you have already watched the show, and you are not seeking a cliff's notes version to the show. You MUST watch the show. It's excellent, but also had a million plot holes that the interwebs have been trying to go over and over for the past two week and it's causing a ton of arguments. The main argument is... was Prairie's story real? Whether you believe this or not directly impacts how you felt about the final episode. If you believe it was fake all along, then the final episode makes no sense, but if the story was real, it makes all the sense. Before we go anywhere else... I cried during the final episode. When they got up and started doing the movements in unison, I bawled. It's what Prairie had been saying … [Read more...]

The tale about the fake instagram

SO, this is a post I've been meaning to write for some time, and guess what, it's made it on to my newfangled editorial calendar for the blog. It's all about my quest for internet privacy while building a brand, and interacting with the masses of the world. Instagram, for all intents and purposes, is my FAVORITE social media platform. It's easy to use, tag, comment, find things, share. A picture REALLY says a thousand words, and then if you really want, you can upload a short video. It's easy to use, and I love it. But, I also hate so much about it. I don't like that I can't group the people that I follow and keep them organized. I don't like that I may miss a post from a friend because I'm following a million DIY, celebs, fitness and beauty bloggers (but now they have post notifications, which is a game changer). Anyhoo, what I don't like MOST OF ALL, is putting my really private pictures out there for public consumption. You know... the pics of your kids doing crazy stuff, … [Read more...]

Weekly Wrap Up – First week of January

I think I'll start writing the weekly wrap ups again, to document all the best stuff from last week that didn't really deserve it's own post, but warrants some kind of discussion. In his week's wrap up, Glee, Taken 3 (no spoilers), Furious 7, Mob Wives, the Advocare 24 day challenge, and the Christmas takedown struggle. First up, Taken 3. I have a saying that the first and third movie of a trilogy will always be the best. Taken three keeps my theory going strong. The first movie was a surprise, sleeper hit. Of course we knew Liam Neeson could kick ass, but we didn't know he could kick THAT much ass. The second move was so so... I watched it mainly because they traipsed around Istanbul, one of my favorite cities. The third. Um. Well, I cried a few times! But, there are a few lessons learned/confirmed from Taken 3: 1. Sometimes the people you have known and trusted the longest are the first to stab in you in the back. 2. Even the weakest person can have redemption (that … [Read more...]

Can you believe it’s OVER? DWTS – Season 18!

WOWOWOWOW! It's over. Hands down, this was the BEST season of Dancing with the Stars, and it was possibly one of the best shows on TV right now. I blogged about this  show about a month ago, and made some PREDICTIONS and I was off, but that doesn't mean I am any less pleased with the results. Okay, if you don't want spoilers, don't read this! First, let's start off with the semi finals. James and Peta were booted leaving us with a final three of Meryl and Maks, Candace and Mark and Amy and Derek. I was shocked, but okay with it. It was nice to see someone that was NOT an olympian or performer of some sort in the final three. She's a mom that is around my age, and I connected with her. The freestyle that Maks and Meryl did was probably the best freestyle this show has ever seen. I will not do a full recap. Read it here at Entertainment Weekly. They always do the best recap of the show. Anyhoo, I am SO happy for Meryl and Maks and I want them, like the rest of America, … [Read more...]

The 10 reasons you should be watching Dancing with the Stars

This year marks the 18th season of Dancing with the Stars (SERIOUSLY? 18). But, yeah, 18, and I started watching the very first season. Over the years, I always try to watch a bit, and I usually drop off somewhere in the middle because all the dancing is repetitive, and the dancers are just blah, and the professionals just "phone it in." BUT, this season, I was drawn in by the cast and they stayed with it for these 10 reasons.... 10. The costumes - This season, the quality of the costumes is just amazing. Some are racy. Some are modest. But the QUALITY is just outstanding. 9. NeNe Leakes - She's one of my favorite Real Housewives and she's always crazy enough to keep you entertained. She's the only person I have ever known to throw a diva fit during practice and be all drama and we STILL love her! 8. Derek Hough - As far as guy dancers go, we all know my #1 is Justin Timberlake. #2 is Derek Hough and I love how he is moving int a more choreographer role in his life. 7. The … [Read more...]
