Blog Hiatus Over… Here’s the 2016 recap

I know, you are reading this, and probably SHOCKED you are reading this. I took a long hiatus from this blog on purpose back in April 2016. I had a lot going on, and I really wanted to step away from this blog and plan a new direction and path for it. Well, 8 months later, I really have no new direction or path for it. It has to be what it is, and always has been, and that is simply a collection of thoughts that I have on different topics about which I am passionate. I've had a regular blog since 2004. It was time for a break, but now it's time to jump back in, and revitalize, and what better way than to catch everyone back up about 2016. I don't have a lot to say about 2016 other than it was a year that I had a lot of extreme personal growth. It was one of those years where I grew up a lot and become more of a grown up and an adult. Sad to say, I'm nearly 40, and still having to get to that point, but alas, here I am. I created more personal boundaries for myself, my family, … [Read more...]

Gym, School, Work – The Mom Bermuda Triangle

Ah, summer. You are rapidly coming to a close, and all of your easy, laid back days, and late nights, is coming to a rapid close. Now, it's time for people to go back to work, back to school, back to the true grind. So, that usually means, something has got to give, and something we love to do is going to go. Summer, 2015, we will miss you so. For the past 10 months, I have been working out pretty steadily, but things hit a frenzied rush in the summer. We could take later classes because there were later bedtimes. Kids didn't have homework during my coveted Monday 4:30pm Circuit class. Long workouts followed by a sauna, a dip in the pool, and a long leisurely chat with friends. All of that is about to change, and as I was chatting with some friends today, I realized that we are all about to get royally screwed with the new school year back in session. Yeah, yeah, yeah, we all know this is time management 101, and you can make time to work out, or do whatever it is that brings you … [Read more...]

Yoga Literally Saved Me

About 9 years back, I dabbled in yoga a bit for a month or so. I really liked it. But, the yoga studio I liked here in Phoenix was so far, and that was right around the the time I was trying to get pregnant. Well, I ended up getting pregnant, and moving, and then moving some more, and then going to Germany where there just was no legit yoga that I liked, or the timing never really became quite right. Well, a few months ago, I started going to some meditative yoga at the Y, and while "okay" it never really gave me the feelings that the flow of 9 years ago gave me. So, when I started at my new gym that has a robust yoga program, I decided to dive back in, go buy a yoga mat, and become one of those "yoga people" again. First, let's talk about "yoga people". When I think of "yoga people" I think of Gwenyth Paltrow. Raw food eating, always in a constant hazy state of emotion (or not showing emotion), people who can legit wear yoga clothes all day and not have it only be about comfort. … [Read more...]

The tale about the fake instagram

SO, this is a post I've been meaning to write for some time, and guess what, it's made it on to my newfangled editorial calendar for the blog. It's all about my quest for internet privacy while building a brand, and interacting with the masses of the world. Instagram, for all intents and purposes, is my FAVORITE social media platform. It's easy to use, tag, comment, find things, share. A picture REALLY says a thousand words, and then if you really want, you can upload a short video. It's easy to use, and I love it. But, I also hate so much about it. I don't like that I can't group the people that I follow and keep them organized. I don't like that I may miss a post from a friend because I'm following a million DIY, celebs, fitness and beauty bloggers (but now they have post notifications, which is a game changer). Anyhoo, what I don't like MOST OF ALL, is putting my really private pictures out there for public consumption. You know... the pics of your kids doing crazy stuff, … [Read more...]

Let me reintroduce myself to you…

I go through these little spurts where I blog a lot, and then times when I don't blog at all, and I have accepted that it is a part of the process of being a long term blogger. I've been at this for a while... 2004 to be exact, and here we are, 11 years later, and so much has changed and I've grown so much as a person and a writer. It's been difficult to nail down what I want my blog focus to be because I'm so scattered and all over the place. My first blog had a very specific focus that related to getting pregnant. Well, after years of trying, I did, and then the laments of that blog didn't seem to fit in with my new life as a busy mom. Then, I decided to start this blog to talk about my new life as a mom, but then I realized that I didn't want my kids' business all out there in the world for world consumption (that's a topic for another blog). THEN, I decided I would make the blog more about me, and what I wanted to share with the world, but between being so busy I never really made … [Read more...]
