Dollar Tree Halloween Floral Arrangement – $6

I am LOVING Dollar Tree. It is probably the one thing I have enjoyed the most since moving back from Germany. My crafts are reaching a new frenzied peak, and I want to make sure I start documenting them because many are just too good to ignore! Today,  I made a great little Halloween Floral Arrangement for $6 flat. Who needs the big box craft stores charging $30 and up for an arrangement. First, check out my PERISCOPE where I talk about the materials and what I bought. Then, here are some pictures of the final product, and what they look like on my Halloween table. Swoon! Thanks for watching! Like, share, talk, tweet if you like this post. ;) Here it is on my table! … [Read more...]

Gym, School, Work – The Mom Bermuda Triangle

Ah, summer. You are rapidly coming to a close, and all of your easy, laid back days, and late nights, is coming to a rapid close. Now, it's time for people to go back to work, back to school, back to the true grind. So, that usually means, something has got to give, and something we love to do is going to go. Summer, 2015, we will miss you so. For the past 10 months, I have been working out pretty steadily, but things hit a frenzied rush in the summer. We could take later classes because there were later bedtimes. Kids didn't have homework during my coveted Monday 4:30pm Circuit class. Long workouts followed by a sauna, a dip in the pool, and a long leisurely chat with friends. All of that is about to change, and as I was chatting with some friends today, I realized that we are all about to get royally screwed with the new school year back in session. Yeah, yeah, yeah, we all know this is time management 101, and you can make time to work out, or do whatever it is that brings you … [Read more...]

Honoring Memorial Day

Today is Memorial Day, a day of remembrance where we take a moment to remember those that died for our country as a member of the armed forces. Not to be confused with Veteran's Day (which is in November), Memorial Day occurs in May. I remember, growing up, as Memorial Day being a day of rest, relaxation, barbeques, and going to a cemetery to visit any loved one just to say, "hey, I'm still thinking about you." I never really fully understood the full scope of Memorial Day until I was far into my 20s. As a military spouse, I finally "got it" and the meaning of Memorial Day has taken on a very different meaning. Lately, on social media, people are nearly burned at the stake for saying "Happy Memorial Day" as it's not a day of happiness, but somber remembrance. Does that mean we go sit in a dark pew of a church, light a candle and stay there all day? Is that something that all of the people who died to protect the American way of life would want? I think  that those that choose … [Read more...]

Yoga Literally Saved Me

About 9 years back, I dabbled in yoga a bit for a month or so. I really liked it. But, the yoga studio I liked here in Phoenix was so far, and that was right around the the time I was trying to get pregnant. Well, I ended up getting pregnant, and moving, and then moving some more, and then going to Germany where there just was no legit yoga that I liked, or the timing never really became quite right. Well, a few months ago, I started going to some meditative yoga at the Y, and while "okay" it never really gave me the feelings that the flow of 9 years ago gave me. So, when I started at my new gym that has a robust yoga program, I decided to dive back in, go buy a yoga mat, and become one of those "yoga people" again. First, let's talk about "yoga people". When I think of "yoga people" I think of Gwenyth Paltrow. Raw food eating, always in a constant hazy state of emotion (or not showing emotion), people who can legit wear yoga clothes all day and not have it only be about comfort. … [Read more...]

Ah, Sweet Freedom

Every now and again, I run into an intense life situation that I am released from that prompts me to play this song because I love it, and I love Michael McDonald. Today is one of those days. I always play it about 30 minutes after, and immediately feel the biggest sense of relief. I hope that this weekend, you are freed from whatever difficult situation that has been dragging you down, and stopping you from being the best version of you. Stay classy my friends... and find your freedom. … [Read more...]
